Yackandandah on Show

The Yackandandah Women's Shed participated in the Community Comeback event on 25th February 2021. This event, funded by the Indigo Shire, was a community building event designed to bring the community back together following a torrid few years of bushfires and pandemic. It was a great opportunity to remind members of the community of the diverse range of community organisations that are available to members of the Yackandandah community. It was also a great opportunity to get out and about, meet new people, listen to some local musicians and have some yummy food!

Importantly for the Yackandandah Women's Shed it was a fantastic opportunity to increase awareness of what we are and what we do.

We used some of our funds to purchase a new gazebo, a folding table and a couple of folding chairs so we no longer need to borrow these for similar events. This enabled us to set up a small but vibrant display of photos of our activities from 2021, some of the craft items we've produced in our workshops, as well as have available some brochures and membership application forms.

We took enquiries from over a dozen prospective new members - women who are new to Yackandandah and wanting to connect to other women; women who have skills and knowledge they want to share with other women; women of all ages, younger and older.

It was so good to get really positive feedback from members of the community who were impressed by all the amazing activities we have organised and run in our first year of operations! And also impressed with the activities we have planned for the coming year!
