A sea of red poppies

Throughout the year a number of Women's Shed members have been knitting and crocheting poppies as part of an ongoing project to help commemorate Remembrance Day. In the end we had close to 400 poppies. Initially we envisaged a field of poppies in the Memorial Gardens, but that goal escaped us (so far!!). Instead we got creative and made a wall hanging of poppies that cascaded onto the ground. Veterans from the RSL were very appreciative of the effort that went into the making of our 'installation' and congratulated us on our contribution to their ceremony. The process of putting the poppies together was a wonderful opportunity for us to be creative, ingenious and it brought quite a few of us together in moments of cooperation, laughter and joy.
