Kawandi quilting
July 2 saw 16 of our members participate in a hands on workshop that introduced them to the ancient quilting practice of Kawandi. Local sewist, Denise Maybury, shared her knowledge and skills in this ancient method of creating a patchwork quilt using leftover fabrics that are repurposed into beautiful pieces. Member Paula Crummy was a helpful assistant given how popular this workshop was. It was really interesting to see how some people put their own personal spin on this technique. Lots of conversation and sharing of tips and tricks was had. A great day! Thanks to Denise and her assistant Paula for their guidance.
